HIPERFACE DSL® is a purely digital motor feedback protocol that uses a minimum of connection cables between the frequency converter and motor feedback system.
It saves costs, requires less space, is easy to implement and offers the highest level of investment and machine safety at the same time. As an open interface, HIPERFACE DSL® combines all the advantages of a digital real-time interface – established One Cable Technology and an enormous increase in efficiency - and is therefore a foundation for Industry 4.0.
The reduced number of required connections makes a more compact motor design possible. In the future, a smaller servo drive will also be possible in many applications.

HIPERFACE DSL® is characterized by increased resistance to interference and has safety technology certification for applications up to safety integrity level SIL3 (IEC 61508) and performance level e (EN ISO 13849-1). HIPERFACE DSL® can therefore be easily integrated into safety applications.
Continuous condition monitoring for the servo drive enables remote control of temperature, speed, LED current, supply voltage and rotation speed - throughout the entire service life. This increases machine availability and supports time management of the machine.

The conformity assessment ensures that the HIPERFACE DSL® standard has been adhered to, so that motor and controller manufacturers can be assured that the motor feedback systems with HIPERFACE DSL® from different manufacturers will operate without problems.

SICK has now licensed the independent development services provider Brinkmann Electronic Berlin as a test laboratory. Manufacturers can now have their sensors subjected to a conformity assessment by Brinkmann.
